Christmas memories
It was in 1996-97 and the Viet Nam war was going on and I decided to help out at the Navy Base near my home town, called great Lakes. I was a cany stripper and I met so many young sailors who came home with injuries that I never saw before. I read letters to a few that couldn't see and many that had losted their arms and legs. I made cookies and even made a few homemade italian noodles and candies. I had the best time for some were looking forward to a smiley face and laugh. My mom who did alot of work at the navel base, she'd have a few of them at our house for a good meal, so on Christmas Eve we had about 15 soliders that weren't able to go home for a feast, my dad wasn't too happy but by the end of the evening he was glad that we had open our house to these men, I losted 2 cousins from this war and it sure made me happier by doing this work. I still am sending care packages to soldiers for its nice to get something in the mail. I made some good friends that I still hear from, it makes my heart alot better. Merry Christmas.
